A 27-year-old man shot in the leg in Overbrook on the evening of Saturday, August 15 is the city's 24th shooting victim of the year, the third in less than three weeks.
The Overbrook Community Association says it is contributing to a neighbourhood anti-gang strategy, but is questioning the Ottawa police force decision to eliminate an anti-gang initiative in the neighborhood.
Rawlson King, president of the association, told the Ottawa Sun, "It doesn't really make sense to cut the anti-gang initiative in the middle of summer when people are more idle. That's the time when you think you'd want to crack down on that type of behavior when it becomes more prevalent during the summer." The victim did not cooperate with investigators.
The Overbrook Community Association, in conjunction with the City of Ottawa, Rideau-Rockcliffe Community Resource Centre, Ottawa Community Housing and the Community Development Framework, is excited to host Overbrook Community Day on Saturday, August 22 from 11 am to 3 pm, at the Overbrook Community Centre.
The Overbrook Community Association, in conjunction with its partners, including the City of Ottawa, the Community Development Framework and the Rideau-Rockcliffe Community Resource Centre, is pleased to present "Movies in Overbrook Park".
Despicable Me 2 will be shown on Friday, August 14 at 8:45 pm. Jumanji will be shown on Friday, August 21 at 8:45 pm.
